Photographer, Project Manager, Photo Editor
The Role
We are looking for an Archive Photographer to support digitization projects for cultural heritage collections. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Digitizing 2D archival materials (drawings, prints, sketchbooks, correspondence, etc.) from the archives of Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant & David Garnett, Milein Cosman, and Tate’s Émigré Art Archives Project
- Producing high-quality, technically accurate images to enhance scholarly research and public access
- Collaborating with archivists, cataloguers, and the Photography & Imaging team to meet project goals
- Contributing imagery for editorial films, exhibition catalogues, and digital resources
About You
You are a detail-oriented photographer passionate about preserving cultural heritage. You have:
- Experience in technical photography within archives, museums, or similar settings
- Proficiency in handling fragile/rare materials with care
- Skills in capturing precise reproductions of artworks and documents
- Interest in art history and contextualizing archival collections
- Commitment to Tate’s ethos of accessibility and inclusivity
Requirements
- Proven experience in cultural heritage digitization or archival photography
- Technical expertise in imaging software and photography equipment
- Ability to meet strict deadlines (project closes 20-Mar-2025)
- Meticulous attention to detail for fragile materials
- Interest in 20th-century British art/émigré artists is advantageous
